It comes to my sense that when you take your time to write articles to your blog definitely you will make consistence income from your blog.

The good reason is that my friend don't stop posting to his blog and he use to tell how much he made per day and even he show me his google adsense account so i should believe what he has says to me, his account his just $500 dollars in just one month.

NEW YORK (AP) — Zach Brooks pocketed $1,000 this month blogging about the cheap lunches he discovers around midtown Manhattan ($10 or less, preferably greasy, and if he's lucky, served from a truck).

The site, Midtownlunch.com, is just a year and a half old and gets only about 2,000 readers daily, but it's already earning him enough each month for a weekend trip to the Caribbean — or in his case, more fat-filled culinary escapades in the city.

In the vast and varied world of blogging, Brooks is far from alone.

It's no longer unusual for blogs with just a couple thousand daily readers to earn nearly as many dollars a month. Helping fill the pockets of such bloggers are programs like Google's AdSense and many others that let individuals — not just major publications — tap into the rapidly growing pot of advertising dollars with a click of the mouse.

In 2006, advertisers spent $16.9 billion online, up steadily each year from $6 billion in 2002, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau. In the first half of 2007, online advertising reached nearly $10 billion, a nearly 27 percent increase over the first half of 2006.

Little technical skill is needed to publish a well-read blog, meaning just about anyone with something worthwhile to say can find an audience, said Kim Malone Scott, director of online sales and operations for Google's AdSense. That's attracted greater readership and advertising dollars, she said.

According to 2006 survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 39 percent of Internet users, or about 57 million American adults, said they read blogs, up from 27 percent in 2004, or 32 million.

That doesn't mean bloggers are suddenly flush with money. For every blogger earning a decent side income like Brooks, countless others will never earn a cent.

But with the right mix of compelling content and exposure, a blog can draw a dedicated following, making advertising a low-hanging fruit.

"This is really a continuation of how the Web in general has enabled smaller businesses and individuals to compete if not at a level playing field, at least a more equitable level," said David Hallerman, a senior analyst with the research group eMarketer.

Google's AdSense is an automated program that places targeted advertising on sites big and small. Other programs such as PayPerPost are just as user friendly; bloggers sign up and advertisers cherry pick where they want to place ads based on categories and the number of impressions a site captures.

Getting paid might even help validate what may otherwise seem like a silly or obscure obsession.

For Samuel Chi, BCSGuru.com started as a way to demystify the convoluted universe of college football rankings for fellow fans.

Chi, a former sports journalist with training in statistics, posts his calculations every Saturday night during the season before official results are released on Sunday. Between Saturday night and Monday, about 4,000 sports fans log on daily to check out the "guru's" forecast.

This season, Chi made about $8,000 total from the blog; ticket brokers contacted him directly after word about his site got out. Google's AdSense brought in another couple hundred dollars for Chi, the owner of a bed-and-breakfast in Amelia Island, Fla.

Neither Chi or Brooks had to do much to gain a loyal readership; when it comes to such rarefied interests, word about a good site can spread rapidly in online communities.

"All it takes is a couple of mentions (on other sites) and hundreds of people can be directed to your site," Chi said.

BlogAds, which helps advertisers target relevant blogs for a commission, prices ads by the week, with sites tiered by the amount of traffic they get.

When the company started in 2002, founder Henry Copeland said it was mainly small advertisers selling T-shirts or promoting bands. Now he said "there's no big brand that doesn't advertise on everyday blogs."

About a third of BlogAds' 1,500 sites earn between $200 and $2,000 a month, Copeland said. Those sites get anywhere from 3,000 to 50,000 daily impressions.

Google's Malone Scott said access to advertising online is more democratic, since an ad click from a tiny site is just as valuable as a click from a site with a million readers.

Some advertisers have even found better response from smaller sites with more passionate, engaged audiences.

For ticket broker RazorGator, advertising on blogs like BCSGuru.com means reaching a very specific audience.

"We have found that more and more sports fans are turning to blogs and smaller fan sites to get their information so as an advertiser it makes sense to follow your audience," spokeswoman Toni Lamb wrote in an email.

The broker has advertised on smaller blogs like Chi's for the past two years; Lamb would not specify how many blogs it currently advertises on.

Despite rapidly rising advertising dollars online, blogs usually don't start out as a way to make money — they're more a means of speaking to an audience of like-minded individuals. MidtownLunch.com started as a way for Brooks to indulge his food obsession, but he soon realized his quest struck a note with a legion of office workers.

Taking that extra step to get advertising was a no-brainer. Companies like Random House's Broadway Books have posted ads for food books on the site, along with the makers of independent films seeking a New York City audience.

Brooks only spends two hours at most each day on MidtownLunch.com. But the blog affects his life in other ways. Like Chi, he's met close friends through his site. He has also scored freelance writing assignments, and, above all, the site has given his endless fascination with greasy foods a sense of validation.

Google 'powerless' to stop AdSense theft

Google's AdSense earnings are threatened by a Trojan that replaces the search giant's paid-for adverts with its own, in order to hijack advertising revenue.

Launched in 2005, Google AdSense allows third-party websites or publishers to generate revenue from Google's text advertisers. AdSense acts as a middleman between an advertiser and a publisher. By crawling the content of publishers' web pages, AdSense determines the relevance of a text ad to page content and then places the ad within the page if there is a match.

Trojan.Qhost.WU, discovered by security firm BitDefender, has been designed to replace ads served by Google on third-party websites that use Google's AdSense network. The ads are replaced with alternative ads called from hosts outside the AdSense network.

"The Trojan sits on the user's 'hosts' file — located in the "%WINDIR% \System32\drivers\etc" directory — to redirect the initial query… to a malicious host," explained BitDefender.

Although it has not been established whether the ads served — or the pages that the ads link to — contain malicious software, BitDefender virus analyst Attila-Mihaly Balazs said it is "a very likely situation, given that they are promoted using malware in the first place".

Fears for consumers centre on the dramatic rise in the use of web pages to inject malicious HTML code through browsers. Security firm Sophos earlier this year highlighted that as many as 30,000 new web pages each day were being used to spread malicious software.

However, the biggest victim in this case may be Google itself, as it makes the majority of its money from advertising. According to Nishad Herath, senior researcher at McAfee's AvertLabs, Google is powerless to stop the Trojan stealing Google's space on third-party sites.

"There's nothing a search vendor can do to protect against the problem since it works by locally modifying content that's being displayed on the browser. There's absolutely nothing that Google or any ad vendor can do about that,"
said Herath.

Publishers on Google's AdSense network may also lose revenue if the Trojan
becomes widespread. "[The Trojan] takes away viewers and thus a possible money source from their websites," said BitDefender's Balazs.

Meanwhile, Google has an entirely different battle on its hands as it attempts to maintain the integrity of its AdSense network. By making it easy for businesses to buy ad space on its network, Google has faced the problem of malicious advertisers exploiting the network to deliver malware to users.

"Google's business model is to make it easy for advertisers to place ads on Google's network of publisher sites that produce relevant content. What's happened is that some advertisers include malicious content as part of the advertisement or they host malware on the links that people go to when they click on a link," said McAfee's Herath. "Ad vendors have been cracking down on these sites as they find out about them. It's a big problem because you have to go through all the links to find out whether they contain malicious content or not," he added.

Google yesterday said its policy is to remove sites that redirect users to malicious pages, but this approach will not prevent the Trojan from damaging its revenue since it sits on the user's PC and causes the browser to bypass the AdSense network completely.
"While you would expect the ad vendors to sort of deal with the quality of
people who they allow to advertise using their networkings, things like this
Trojan are a client-side issue," said Herath.

“Umm, I don’t know why?” I half heartily replied because I was’t really listening.
“They sent us a check for $246.18. Are you sure you don’t know who they are”
Man, I was out of my chair quicker than Flash Gordon!
“Let me see, let me see it” I said. Halfway expecting it to be one of those phony checks you get in the mail from banks, mortgage companies and other Spammers of snail mail.
“Cool” I said.
“So you do know who Click Bank is” my Wife stared at me.
“Yeah, I may have heard of them.” I gingerly replied.
How I Used Blogger and ClickBank To Start A Profitable Blog Empire
Now, $246 isn’t going to set the world on fire, but when you’re not expecting it, it’s cool. And when you realize you can duplicate it over and over, you begin to see how you can that this technique has some power to it.
I’d like to tell you this was planned from day one, but I can’t. Here’s what happened.
Late last year I bought the eBook “Blogging To The Bank.” It’s about a technique of creating Blogger blogs and gaming MSN search, IMHO. MSN search use to have a loophole where you could quickly and easily take advantage of their love of Blogger blogs. You could easily outrank most any website with a blogger blog and some backlinks.
About the time I bought this ebook, MSN finally got around to closing this loophole, although I didn’t know it at the time.
I read the eBook. It sounded a lot like the author would use PLR articles and some RSS feeds for content on his Blogger blogs. I thought “Geez, if I pick a category I know something about and write some quality content, it should work better.”
Here’s How I Set My Blogger Network Up
I set up 5 or 6 Blogger blogs on a niche that I settled on.
To find the niche, I went to Google and searched for a niche that would have less than 1 million pages showing. I know this sounds like a big number, but trust me, not all those pages are about your niche.
For this example, I found a niche called Royal Copenhagen Glassware. As you can see, Google is showing 169,000 pages. This is a very small niche. (by the way, I love Royal Copenhagen glassware, but I don’t have a website about it)

I would then add content about Royal Copenhagen glassware to each of the Blogs. I would designate one as my Primary blog that would have the Affiliate links on it. The other blogs were designated Satellite blogs and have no affiliate links on them.
Use your main keyword for your Primary blog. Your Satellite blogs should be made up of relevant keywords to your Primary blog, but not the exact keyword. Make the network relevant to the Niche you choose. One niche blog network per Main keyword. This is where your network will get it power to generate profits from.
Each blog would have anywhere from 4 to 10 SEO keyword rich post on them. All the blogs would have links with the keyword in the anchor text pointing at the Primary Blog.
The last post on the Primary blog would be a review of the Clickbank product along with an affiliate link to the Clickbank product. “We’re pretending there is a Clickbank product about Copenhagen glassware, I have no idea if there really is”
TIP:Do not put ADSENSE ads on these blogs! In fact, do not every put Adsense ads on a Affiliate Marketing site. That site should be dedicated to selling the Affiliate product! Never give your visitor a reason to leave your site for a few cents! I’d rather have them leave and not make nothing rather than lose a potential sale because my Visitor left on an Adsense click! If you want Adsense money, build a Content site!
How To Find A Niche Product On ClickBank
One of the most important things that helped some of these sites achieve the high Click Thru Ratio that they achieved, which you need with a small niche, is the price of the ClickBank product. I chose products that had a price tag under $20. The product also had to pay me at least $9, preferably more!
The reason I look for something at or below the $20 threshold is because I believe people do not hesitate much, if any, on pulling out their credit card and buying something under $20. So far this has worked extremely well on these niche blogs.
Another important thing to do is go and look at the landing pages to see how well the Copywriting is. If you’re not compelled to order the product, chances are your Visitors won’t either.
Next, buy the product. Yes, you heard me right. You should never sell an info product if you’ve never read it or used it! If it’s crap, you’ll end up with a high return and all your hard work will be for nothing! ClickBank will not pay our for returns!
To find a good product on ClickBank, I look for a product in the marketplace that has a “gravity” of 60 or higher and a refer rate of around 75.
Gravity is the number of distinct affiliate’s who earned commission with this product. I really like products with a Gravity over 100, but that’s hard to find in some niches.
Refer rate(or Rdfd on Clickbank) is the fraction of the totals sales referred by Affiliates. The high the number, the better. This tells you that other people are having succes at selling this product.
Patience Is A Blog Empire Builder’s Best Friend
Once you have your product chosen and quality content on your site, you then need to get them indexed in Google. Just find some high PR relevant sites to link back to each of those blogs until they are indexed. It’s that easy! It usually takes a few days for my blogs to be indexed.
Next is the hard part. Wait! Have Patience! Expect your blogs to sit for 6 months to a year before they climb the SERPS and start bringing in the Search Engine traffic. You can work at driving traffic to the blogs, but I prefer the “Build ‘em and forget ‘em” approach. I have way too many other things going on!
You can help the SERP climb of each of the blogs by linking to them from other sites already indexed outside your network, but it’s not a “must-do”. The higher the PR, the better the link. Just remember to use keywords in your anchor text!
Where My Mini-Blog Empire Is At Today
What happened is that those networks that I built about 10 months ago finally started getting some PR and climbing their way up the SERP ladder in their little niches.
The Primary blog on one of these networks has only 3 post on it. Yet, somehow, it has a PR2 with no backlinks (go figure that one!). Apparently Google isn’t counting any of the backlinks to it, yet Yahoo shows 45 backlinks to the page. (backlinks I found for them)
The Primary blog is at #12 for the Primary keyword and two other lesser keywords are on the front page about halfway down in the Google SERPS. This is where the traffic is coming from for those sites.
The blog network worked it’s way into the Top SERPS positions sometime in late Aug. and early Sept. That’s when the orders started trickling in, unbeknown to me!
Build ‘Em and Forget ‘Em
I had forgotten all about these blog networks. Shortly after I built Blogger network #3, I started hearing that MSN had closed the loophole that allowed Blogger blogs to dominate its SERP’s. Sure enough, none of my Blogger blogs were indexed by MSN. So after a few weeks, I wrote off the project.
So you see how sweet it is that Google came to my rescue and started sending them traffic.
I have no doubt, that if I had used PLR articles and RSS feeds, they’d still be in SERP hell and no where near the top. The articles on those blog networks are quality how-to articles and I sincerely believe that’s why they are nearing the #1 spot in Google SERPS.
What I’m Doing Now To Boost The Blogs In The SE Rankings
In the last few days, I added more keyword anchor text pointing at my Primary blogs on the network, from high PR sites, this should be the final straw and those blogs should reach the top 3 within a month or less.
I’ve also added some more keyword rich articles to the Satellite blogs. This should help them continue upward in the SERPS.
This technique is not for everyone I understand. But it may be something you want to add for an additional stream of revenue, especially if you have a small niche! A small niche may not have enough traffic to support you by itself, but having a network of niches can provide you some good passive income!
Once you have your first network tweaked and running, wash, rinse and repeat!

Ten Rules for Profitable Blog Startups

Evan Williams from Pyra Labs had an interesting post a few days back titled Ten Rules for Web Startups which has some interesting points - some of which might well by relevant to bloggers in start up mode. The bold points are Evan’s - the rest is my attempt to adapt it to blogging.

1: Be Narrow - Evan suggests focusing upon the smallest possible problem to solve - good advice for a start up blog as well as a company. I was asked in an interview today what my advice is to bloggers and one of the first things I said was to think carefully about the niche that you choose. While there are some successful blogs going around that don’t have tight niches, there are many more that choose a narrow niche and work hard at dominating it. It’s old advice that I rabbit on about a fair bit - but the adage of being a large fish in a small pond is probably one of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever been given in this business.

2: Be Different - In this point Evan talks a little about competition (something there is plenty of in blogging these days!). There is loads of useful advice here that’s totally relevant for blog start ups. Yes there is competition - deal with it. Don’t let it get you down because competition can actually be good for your blog. There is always a way to differentiate yourself from the ‘competition’. Find the gaps around the niche that others are missing, be creative, be outrageous, be extravagant - do whatever it takes to stick out of the crowd.

3: Be Casual - Key sentence in this point - ‘If you want to hit the really big home runs, create services that fit in with—and, indeed, help—people’s everyday lives without requiring lots of commitment or identity change.’ I think this is pretty true with blog start ups also - although not always. There are opportunities with blogging to become a natural part of people’s lives - to meet their needs in very simple ways. People naturally surf the web looking for information on all kinds of topics - bloggers have the opportunity to be on the other ends of these searches. Having said that there is also the opportunity with blogging to be outrageous, entertaining, shocking and out of the ordinary in ways that are not a part of natural everyday life.4: Be Picky - It’s so tempting to try to make your blog all things to all people. I constantly get emails from people telling me that my blog should be this way or that. The fact is, I’ve chosen to make ProBlogger a blog about helping people to make money from blogging and it’s never going to stray too far from that. I know I could easily become distracted by all kinds of tangents and opportunities that come my way from this blog - but I’m slowly learning to pick my direction carefully.
5: Be User-Centric - I think this is pretty clearly an important part of blogging start ups. A blogger needs to put themselves in the shoes of their potential reader and build their blog from that position. Listen to your readers, respond to them and involve them wherever possible.

6: Be Self-Centered - “Great products almost always come from someone scratching their own itch. Create something you want to exist in the world. Be a user of your own product.” - Once again a good lesson for bloggers. While it is sometimes tempting to start a blog on a ‘money topic’ that you have little interest in - the blogs that I love to read are blogs where the blogger is totally obsessed and in love with what they are writing about. Pick a topic you’d write about for free if no one was ever going to read it and you’re probably going to attract others with a similar obsession to you.

7: Be Greedy - Interesting title for this one. I’m not sure I’d word it quite that way - but there is truth here. If you’re wanting to build a profitable blog, company, shop, lemonade stall…. you’ve got to start making some money from it at some point. I know of some bloggers whose model is to start up with completely free, ad free, give it all away strategies with the hope that they can add revenue streams later on and I always wonder if it’s a wise strategy. Business is business and there comes a point where you need to start adding some income streams to your blogs if you want turn a profit.

8: Be Tiny - Not sure if this is exactly where Evan was coming from but my advice to new bloggers has always been to start small and from the place they find themselves in. I quite often get IM’s from bloggers with massive plans to hire hundreds of bloggers and start thousands of blogs (I’m not exaggerating - it’s a monthly conversation I seem to have) - but when I dig a little into their plans I find they have little blogging experience, little understanding of the issues and no actual starting place. One of the keys to the business I’ve built is that it’s been a gradual and slow evolution over time. I started with one blog and built it up over a year. Then I added another and worked my butt off at it and overtime gradually was able to free up my time from other work to dedicate more time to blogging. It started tiny ( a guy in the spare bedroom with a 5 year old PC) and to this day it remains at most ’small’ (a guy in a home office (I kicked out the bed) with a Mac….and a very nice screen :-) ).

9: Be Agile - This is probably Evan’s best point. Flexibility and the ability to jump onto the right opportunities as they come by is an absolute key. Keep in mind point 4 about not taking every opportunity - but know that your ability to change course/shape/direction very quickly can be key to the success of a blog. This happens on a daily basis with the posts you write - but also on a bigger picture level. I know there have been two or three crucial decisions that I’ve made (in each case very quickly) that have totally changed the way I earn an income.

10: Be Balanced - I read this part of Evan’s post and wondered if he’d been talking to my wife. Balance between work and life is key. Life’s too short to spend it all staring at your computer (as lovely as your screen might be)!

11 (bonus!): Be Wary - Every list of rules needs a disclaimer like this. I agree. There are NO rules. I know this from personal experience. Sometimes the things that shouldn’t work do work and the things that should don’t. The key is to experiment and track the results. Adapt as you go.

Steve Pavlina has written some great ways to build a high traffic blog. His strategy isn’t based on tricks or techniques that will go out of style, but providing genuine value and letting word of mouth do the rest.

1. Create valuable content.He suggests imaginging yourself in from of an outdoor concert stage before an audience of a million people. What would you say to them? Remember that strong content is universally valued, and quality is more is more often important than quantity.

2. Create original content.While it takes more effort to produce original content, your site becomes the "final destination." Then, your visitors will often stick around for a while.

3. Create timeless content.He suggests thinking about how your work might influence future generations in addition to my own. What advice can you pass onto your great grandchildren? We forget yesterday’s news, but we remember those things that have meaning to us.

4. Write for human beings first, computers second.Don't let the prevailing search engine strategies intefere with your desire to deliver genuine value and creating timeless content. Your traffic can grow because people tell other people about this site, either online or offline.

5. Know why you want a high-traffic site.Do you know your site's purpose? Is your work driven by this purpose? If you do succeed by building a high-traffic web site and are in the privileged position of being able to influence millions of people, what will you say to them? Don't forget to honor those readers with your best.

6. Let your audience see the real you.Getting people to know you makes it easier for them to understand the context of what you write. His attitude is that it’s perfectly OK to fail or to be rejected publicly - trying to appear perfect is nothing but a house of cards that will eventually collapse.

7. Write what is true for you, and learn to live with the consequences.Being honest is more important to him than being popular. He doesn’t treat any subjects as taboo or sacred if they’re relevant to his site's subject (personal growth). Truth creates trust, and trust builds traffic.

8. Treat your visitors like real human beings.The human-to-human connection between Steve and his readers matters to him. Real human beings helping real human beings is ultimately what traffic growth is all about (think links and referrals). If you align yourself with the intention of genuinely helping people because you care, you’ll soon find yourself with an abundance of traffic.

9. Keep money in its proper place.Money is important, obviously you have bills to pay.He sought to earn money for the purpose of increasing my freedom. By paying close attention to how he earns money and not just how much he earns, he keeps money in its proper place.

10. Focus on genuinely helping people, and the rest will take care of itself.One of the great benefits of focusing on helping others is that it gets fear out of the way. Without fear you become free to just be yourself. You’re able to take intelligent risks and remain detached from any specific outcome because the journey is more important to you than the specific stops along the way.

AdSense gives publishers more ad control

Google AdSense is rolling out a new feature for AdSense accounts that will give publishers even more control over which ads appear on their websites.

Google AdSense's recently announced “Ad Review Center” is yet another feature aimed at giving publishers more control over the format and content of ads displayed on their websites.
While the filtering will only be applied to ads that are placement-targeted, it does add to Google AdSense's growing arsenal of features that allow publishers to fine tune the advertising their visitors are subjected to and to deal with unwelcome ads such as those from competitors, or with offensive images or undesirable products.

The Inside AdSense blog warns that, while there is an option to manually review ads before they are allowed to appear on a website, publishers should consider using the “auto-allow” preference because “ads don't participate in the auction while they are awaiting review, and ads that you have blocked cannot compete in the auction either”.

When a publisher blocks an ad, they are asked for the reason for their actions. This will help advertisers adjust their messages to best suit the publishers they wish to target.

Google AdSense Launching "Ad Review Center"

We now have a confirmation from Google one news we reported Monday, Google AdSense to Launch "Ad Review Center".
In short, the ad review center, will give publishers a method of reviewing all placement targeted ads on their site and decide if they want to block those ads or not. AdWords advertisers can specify if they want to place an ad on a site that runs AdSense. Some AdSense publishers want control on which advertisers can display ads on their site in this manner. So AdSense is rolling out the "Ad Review Center" to address this concern.
First, you need to opt into the Ad Review Center. Once you opt in, then Google will show you all the placement-targeted ads currently targeted to your site. Then you can make an informed decision if you want those ads to continue to run or stop them by blocking them in the Ad Review Center.
When you block ads, Google asks you to provide a reason, which is then shared with the advertiser, so the advertiser can use this information to improve their ads. Google also uses this information internally to help improve their products.
Most AdSense publishers won't be able to see the Ad Review Center, Google plans on rolling it out over the course of a few months. You will know you have it when you see a "green notification box at the top of your 'Competitive Ad Filter' page." The competitive ad filter page is under the ad set up section.

Google Expands AdSense Revenue Sharing Program At YouTube

News outlets all across the media sphere yesterday published stories on YouTube’s decision to grow its pilot ad revenue sharing program to encompass interested parties in the general public.

The company, owned by Google, was known for several months to operate a limited, roughly 100-user program to formulate a system by which registered site members would be given a percentage – presumably quite small – of advertising income generated via AdSense.

According to YouTube, however, the site “will now accept partner applications from users in the US and Canada.”
Yes that means YouTube is opening up. That it’s working to satisfy a user demand. But don’t expect all who apply to gain admission to the green pastures way up there in Big G’s dominion.

What’s likely to be the case as time progresses is the company will do a sort of top-down check-off. Popular podcasts will likely get green lighted. As will generally well-known content providers. You know, YouTube “startups” (the LonelyGirl15 clones and so forth) that found themselves sizable viewerships over the course of their development. Those sorts of operations.
Maybe a good number of those viral phenomena, too. That "Evolution of Dance" synopsis that got tons of hits way back when. Tay Zonday at his “Chocolate Rain” clip. Generally speaking, the ones that surpass the million mark.
And that’s pretty much where YouTube will draw the line. No point getting in over their heads, right? Gotta keep things organized. And specialized. Everyone likes exclusives. If everyone were to be granted shares of the advertisement returns, the program would get real boring real fast. Diluted as hell. Besides, lowering the barrier to entry whilst maintaining a selective process touches the right button for many people. It makes people see the possible. That if you try hard enough – or kiss enough ass – you too can enjoy the spoils of the chosen few. And then you’ve effectively become one of the meritocratic elite! Fantastic.

And by the time all the lowly regular folk manage to sneak inside, you’ll have moved on. Pretty awesome, right?
Who knows. It’s all subjective. I get why YouTube’s playing discretionary gatekeeper, though. It’s because YouTube is YouTube. It’s not your average third-party web space with AdSense plastered all over its page(s). It’s Google’s own video land. It’s where Google does what Google wants and what Google thinks is best for you and I. No more, no less.

So let’s take it for what it is. Let's not bother with any debate as to what’s fair and unfair about YouTube’s expanded revenue sharing system. It’s the company’s own prerogative to play its cards as it sees fit. Capishe?

Every single website and its owner have the opportunity to make some great money by displaying Google Adsense ads on
it. Although many webmasters are making a nice income with these ads, many aren't.
Many people say that all you have to do is put up a website and you'll be making over $100 a day with Google Adsense. It
does sound simple and it is, but you will need to optimize your site so that you do generate more and more clicks on the
ads that are sitting on your site.
The first thing that you need to do is to Place the Google Adsense ads in the right spot of the page. This will determine how
much money you will make each day. It is very important that you place the ad at the top of the page (above the fold) on
your website in order to get the most clicks. What this really means is that you will want to place the Adsense code that
Google gives you high enough on the page so that your visitors do not have to scroll down to see the Google ads.
If you choose to have the ads right at the top above everything else then do that. By placing the Google Adsense ads at the
top of your website above the fold, there is a greater chance that people will click on the ad, which will help your site
generate a higher click through rate also known as CTR. The reason for this is because the majority of your visitors will not
scroll down the page and look at it.
A lot of the time, people look over the top part of the page without worrying about scrolling down. The way you blend the
ads with the rest of your page can determine if the ad is visually appealing or not. It is very crucial to make the Google
Adsense ads look like your site and not another ad. You can do this by making the font and color of the ad's text similar to
the rest of the page. I also recommend that you blend the background of the ad with the background of your page. It
should basically have the same color.
Google gives you the option to go into your account and customize your ads in different fonts and colors. This will help you
blend the ads to your site. Make sure that you don't use the banner ads on your site because this will decrease your click
through rate.
People who visit your website usually try to avoid any banner and picture ads that they see. If you want to increase your

1. Google has confirmed that using the 336x280 rectangle ad block size does have the highest click through rate. Using this
ad size will increase your click through rate and the income that you generate.

Fire up that webcam and spill your guts. Keep the camcorder rolling as a harmless prank goes deliciously wrong. Google's
(Nasdaq: GOOG) YouTube is no Bob Saget, Tom Bergeron, or even Daisy Fuentes, but it's ready to hand over the moola if
you've got America's funniest home video clips.
The world's most popular video-sharing website -- and fourth most popular overall, according to Alexa.com -- is finally
opening up the revenue-sharing floodgates.
After revealing its plan to share the wealth back in January, and then inviting select high-volume producers to its program
in May, the site wants more webcam hobbyists and amateur filmmakers to opt-in and display small ads during their clips.
The video creators will get a slice of the generated ad receipts.
Not everyone can get in. The velvet rope is a little lower, but it's still there. If you're the one stocking your uploads with
South Park episodes, My Chemical Romance music videos, or regurgitating the same viral clips that have been posted
before, you're out of luck.
The YouTube Partner Program has four stipulations for interested applicants:
Your videos must be original and suitable for streaming. You own the copyrights for all of the audio and video. You're a resident of the United States or Canada. You regularly upload clips that are viewed by thousands. Some of those hurdles aren't too easy to clear. Few YouTube members can claim "thousands" of regular viewers. Even some
of the original May partners lean on third-party background music as an occasional crutch.
One small step for Google-kindIs YouTube a pioneer here? No way. Smaller sites like Revver and Break.com have been sharing the wealth for a while now.
Even CNET (Nasdaq: CNET) set out to bankroll promising producers last year with its Project Spotlight initiative.
However, Google wasn't the first search engine, or even the first paid-search specialist. It just gradually won the masses
over, and it doesn't even need a shoehorn this time. YouTube's already the top dog in video streaming. Opening the gate a
little wider -- as it surely will in the future -- will probably make it the leader in clip culture revenue-sharing overnight.
Even if non-payers like MySpace, Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) Video, and Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Soapbox come around, it
will be too late.
So what? You're missing the point. It's not about the money. That's chump change. Video watchers are fickle compared to
visitors to Google's search engine. Folks turn to Google to go somewhere else, while video-watching junkies are highly
unlikely to click on an ad that will shoo them away from their beloved YouTube.
This leaves impression-based marketing as the more attractive route, but that's a historically poor way to monetize a site
with heavy bandwidth costs. Running a video-sharing site isn't cheap. There's a reason why content delivery networks like
Akamai (Nasdaq: AKAM) and Limelight (Nasdaq: LLNW) are cashing in on the Web's need for dependable delivery of
chunky video, music, and software files.
In short, aspiring YouTube partners may ultimately become disillusioned with the pocket change they're amassing on their
clips. Quite frankly, there's more money to be made -- and a still-lower velvet rope -- if video creators simply embed their
uploads into blogs that also feature contextual market ads from Google's AdSense or Yahoo!'s YPN programs. Even Blinkx
(OTC BB: BLNKF.PK) has rolled out a way to generate ad revenue from third-party clips.
A mindshare is a terrible thing to wasteSo maybe we're not about to get rich off of YouTube. But it's likely to spur content creators to rally around YouTube, the
same way non-Google publishers rallied around its AdSense program to populate their pages with targeted text ads.
This would normally twist open the faucet to crummy content -- with naive partners hoping to make in quantity what they
lack in quality -- but YouTube's unchecked ways already have it padded with pointless low-resolution cell phone
recordings and inside-joke heavy clips.
So YouTube itself won't change -- but the amount of content, and the audience-multiplying wonders of active partners
drawing more traffic, will. In other words, if you think YouTube is pretty darn ubiquitous now, you haven't seen anything
yet.

There’s all sorts of buzz about blogs lately and yet so many companies are still wondering what to do about it. In fact, there are a tremendous number of business blogs that are not
realizing much of their potential visibilty on the web. Why? Because they’re not optimized.

This is very much the same scenario that occurred with web sites in the late nineties. Back then I worked with a company that sold web sites - lots of them. But after getting the site up
and running, the traffic didn’t come by itself. So we figured out optimizing for search engines and that was the start of my SEO career. Blogs can generate traffic without search
engines, but WITH search engines it can be even better.

With blogs, there exist as many or more optimization opportunities to optimize as with a web site. While most blog software is more search engine friendly out of the box than many
web sites, the opportunities for blog optimization are readily available. For our SEO and blog marketing consulting service, we have a very long list blog optimization tactics to employ.
For this post, I’ll focus on a short list that can make a difference for any blog.
Why optimize your blog?

Increase rankings of the blog on BOTH regular search engines as well as blog/RSS search engines Increase traffic to the blog from multiple sources such as social search (Yahoo MyWeb, Google Personalized Search) and social bookmarking sites (del.icio.us, Digg, Furl or
Blogmarks) A blog is just a website that uses a content management system, so most standard SEO tactics apply. There are also optimization tactics specific to blogs.

Consider keywords when writing your blog post titles. Some blog software allows plugins that can suggest keywords. Otherwise, you can use Google Suggest or one of these free
keyword suggestion tools: Digital Point, SEO Book or Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Keywords should NOT determine your content (unless it’s an AdSense blog).Optimize the template. Make sure post titles appear in the title tag and append the title tag (hard code) with the most important phrase for your blog.

Example: ” Interview with Brett Tabke - Online Marketing Blog”Online Marketing Blog is included on every blog post title tag automatically.
Also use the blog post title as the permalink. If you’re using keywords in the blog post title, then they will occur as anchor text in the permanent post link. While you’re at it, just make the
post title a permalink.

Make it easy for your blog readers to subscribe and include RSS feed subscription buttons or “chicklets” in a side bar or on a dedicated Subscription Info page. Here’s a handy RSS
Feed Button creation tool.

Optimize Categories. When you create categories for your blog, be sure to consider keywords in the titles. When you post, be sure to default to a general category that is relevant no
matter what the post is about. Choose multiple categories on each post when appropriate.
Social bookmarking sites can be excellent sources of traffic to your blog, so be sure to make it easy for readers to bookmark your blog posts. You can do this by adding some code to
your blog template for each of the major social bookmarking sites. Here’s a tool for social bookmarking links. Here’s another tool that uses icons instead of text links.
Submit your blog to RSS and Blog directories. Also submit the blog to regular directories such as (DMOZ, JoeAnt, GoGuides, MSN Business Central, etc) that have categories for
blogs.

Ping the major RSS feed and Blog search engines each time you post. This can be configured with blog software such as Movable Type or WordPress to work automatically. If you’re
using Blogger.com, then you can do this manually with Pingomatic or Pingoat.

Comments and Trackbacks - Be sure your blog software is configured to send a trackback ping to blogs that you cite within your posts. Pay attention to press releases distributed by
PRWeb. If you cite a release, and ping the trackback link, the press release will in turn link to your blog. This is better for driving traffic than for link popularity.
Make useful comments on other blogs. Your name will be linked to the blog url that you enter. Do NOT make comments that offer no value to the blog post. Do NOT use keywords in
the field for your name, use your name or blog name.

Simply run pay-per-click ads provided by search engines such as Google and Yahoo on your Web site. You'll earn money every time a visitor clicks on an ad.If you use the Google search engine, you've probably noticed the text ads that run along the right-hand side and sometimes across the top of your search results. These are placed by advertisers who participate in the Google AdWords pay-per-click program. Google AdSense lets you earn a share of that money by running those ads on your site. There's no guarantee that you'll actually attract clicks and get paid, but it costs nothing to sign up and try it out.

PPC vs. Affiliate Marketing
AdSense is a pay-per-click service, not an affiliate marketing network. While both PPC ads and affiliate marketing networks allow you to earn money from your Web site, there are some significant differences in how they work.
Affiliates typically earn money only when a visitor referred from their site purchases the advertiser's product. But Web publishers can earn money from PPC ads when a visitor simply clicks on an ad. No purchase is necessary.

Almost immediately, I noticed that the ads changed, becoming more relevant, and my earnings soared.
Google won't accept every Web site. It won't, for example, place ads on sites with pornographic, gambling, and other controversial content.

Earning Money From AdSense
The amount of money that you earn from AdSense depends upon several factors, including the number of visitors to your Web site or blog and the nature of your content. Some content is more popular with advertisers, who will pay more for ad clicks. Google doesn't disclose how it splits the money it earns from advertisers with the publishers on AdSense. Google accumulates your monthly earnings and pays out after the balance exceeds $100.
I'm generally pleased with my earnings from AdSense. However, I know other Web publishers who don't believe it was worth the effort needed to enter the ad code. You risk only the investment of your time, however, so I recommend trying out AdSense to see if it earns money for you.
